Committee for Montgomery (CfM) announced its new leadership at its first meeting of the 2011/2012 year, Monday September 12, 2011.  Linna Barnes will serve as Chair and Dan Wilhelm of the Montgomery County Civic Federation will serve as Vice Chair.

I am proud to serve as Chair of this organization and am committed to ensuring opportunities for open dialogue among the diverse representatives of Montgomery County.  As we weather these difficult economic times, it is most important that CFM follow through on its priorities in strengthening and preserving Montgomery County as a place to live, work and learn.”

“Given our policy of requiring 85% consensus for issue advocacy, we unite in supporting broad issues while reflecting our diversity and the cross-section of community needs and political views.  Our mission is to encourage a recognition that all residents of Montgomery County share common interest and needs that can be met through sound public policy.”

Continuing as Treasurer and Secretary will be Ken Muir and Carla Satinsky of the Mental Health Association.  To serve on the Executive Committee are: Ellen Bogage of Chesapeake Public Strategies; Stewart Edelstein of the Universities of Shady Grove, Robert Jepson of Adventist Healthcare; David Rodich of SEIU Local 500; and, Charles Washington of PEPCO.

CfM will hold its October Board of Directors meeting on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 8:00 am at the Universities at Shady Grove in Rockville.  Any person who lives or works in Montgomery County is welcome to become a member or attend meetings.

Committee for Montgomery is a coalition of leaders representing a broad cross-section of Montgomery County business, labor, education, civic and community-based organizations.  Our mission is to advocate in Annapolis on issues of importance to Montgomery County and the State.  Through our membership, CfM represents more than 250,000 Montgomery County residents.
