Membership in Committee for Montgomery

There are two categories of Membership in CfM: General Membership and Board Membership.

Board Membership (voting, by application and invitation)

Board Member Dues

At-Large Board Member                                                         $200

Representative of an organization or business with revenues at or below $1,000,000.         $350          

Representative of an organization or business with revenues above $1,000,000.                $750

Board Member Responsibilities

Purpose:  To serve the board of Committee for Montgomery as a voting member; to develop policies, procedures and regulations for the operation of Committee for Montgomery; to monitor finances, programs and performance.


  • Regularly attend meetings as scheduled (about 10 per year)

  • Attend standing committee meetings if a member

  • Participate as an ad hoc committee member if appointed

  • Attend board retreats, in-service workshops and other board development activities

  • Attend and participate in special events as needed

 Obligations of the board:

  • Commitment to the Strategic Plan

  • Establish policy

  • Hire, supervise and evaluate the executive director

  • Secure adequate funding

  • Monitor finances

  • Maintain and update long-range plans

  • Attend meetings and show commitment to board activities

  • Be well-informed on issues and agenda items in advance of meetings

  • Contribute skills, knowledge and experience when appropriate

  • Listen respectfully to other points of view

  • Participate in organizational decision-making

  • Financially support the organization

  • Assume leadership roles in board activities, including fund raising

  • Represent the organization to the public and to private industry

  • Educate yourself about the needs of the people we serve
